One of the areas of modern medicine is the development of locally applied (topical) composite materials containing compounds of various chemical nature that have healing or penetrating properties in deep layers of the skin. In this paradigm, a composite material based on water-soluble polyurethane and derivatives of cyclodextrin were first investigated for transdermal application. This material is a mixed macro-microporous carrier containing brilliant green dye. Spectrophotometric titration was used to estimate the dye-cyclodextrin complexation constants (lgK1:1 up to 5.0). Electron spectroscopy was used to evaluate the kinetics of the dye and the accumulation of the supramolecular complex in the material. Atomic force microscopy was used to evaluate the porosity of the material. Introducing hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, a water-soluble polyurethane with polymer affinity, into the polymer matrix increases the relative sorption capacity of the composite material by 1.4-fold. Mixed macro-microporous carriers may be of promise for doping with nanoscale objects.
