In the Republic of Bashkortostan, 13 epilithic moss species belonging to the genus Grimmia Hedw. have been found. An annotated list of species with information about the number of findings in different vegetation zones and a brief description of habitat conditions, as well as distribution map of species are provided. In study area, Grimmia species are more common in areas with volcanic rocks outcrops, i. e. the central part and the eastern slope of the Southern Urals, as well as in the Bashkir TransUrals. Habitat conditions of G. laevigata, G. longirostris and G. muehlenbeckii differ significantly by temperature and humidity. The species G. plagiopodia G. teretinervis, G. alpestris, G. anomala and G. tergestina are rare in Bashkortostan and recommended to be included in the appendix to the Red Data Book of the republic.
