Thladiantha dubia Bunge (Manchu tubergourd) is a perennial herb from the Cucurbitaceae family, which has a high invasive potential in anthropogenically disturbed areas due to its increased ability to grow vegetatively through tubers. During observations of vegetative propagation of invasive forms of T. dubia, we discovered on the surface of tubers the appearance of encircling callus-like structures, from which the formation of both shoots and roots, with the further regeneration of plants. Probably T. dubia in the process of evolution has developed a mechanism for the induction of dedifferentiation and organogenesis processes on the tubers surface, which allows this invasive species to spread rapidly in cultivated lands through small pieces of tubers.
